Construction of 7 Cancer Care Centres In Assam From August

GUWAHATI: A number of comprehensive cancer care centres are coming up Assam, and the construction of seven of them is to begin in August this year.

This is the outcome of a joint initiative by the State Government and Tata Trust. It was in June 2018 that an agreement was signed between the Assam Government and Tata Trust in the presence of Ratan Tata, leading to the formation of the Assam Cancer Care Foundation. According to the agreement, Tata Trust is to pour in Rs 1,000 crore to the Foundation.

The construction cost of the seven comprehensive cancer care units that are going to be started in this August is Rs 736 crore. The contract for the construction of the cancer care centres has been given to Larsen and Tubro.
