All Assam Primary TET-Qualified Teachers' Association president Troilokya Deka said, "We have been demanding regularization of our jobs for a long time. Following a decision taken at the recent central executive committee of the association, we are ready to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister in the New Year on our various demands. Assam has around 35,000 state pool and SSA contractual teachers who will sign in the memorandum. We have collected signatures from 20,000 teachers. We are collecting the signatures of the remaining around 15,000 teachers. Our district committees are collecting the signatures. We will submit the memorandum after the collection of the remaining signatures."
He said, "We have the requisite qualifications fulfilling the NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) norms, and we have been waiting for the regularization of our jobs for a long time. The State Government has not taken any steps to regularize our jobs. Uncertainty of our future continues to haunt us. We want the intervention of the Prime Minister on this issue."
