Dispur police held two more in job scam case

GUWAHATI: The Dispur police on Tuesday night arrested two more persons – Kuhiram Deka of Sipajhar and Pinku Baruah of Kaliagaon – in connection with the fake job scam unearthed in the city on Sunday night, which led to the arrest of seven persons while they were preparing fake appointment letters at the DB Lodge at Borbari here.

According to police sources, Kuhiram Deka is a Grade-IV employee of the Water Resources Department is one of the three masterminds who were absconding. Various documents were seized from his residence and these are being examined, the sources said, adding that Deka was also involved in earlier incidents of fake job rackets.

The sources said that on the other hand, Pinku Baruah, who was away from the DB Lodge when it was raided on Sunday night, was providing candidates to the racketeers.

Both Deka and Baruah were produced in court on Wednesday and they were remanded to three days' police custody.

The persons who were arrested earlier were Nayan Saikia (Kahilipara), Sirajul Haque (Mangaldai), Gobinda Choudhury (Nalbari), Nur Islam Ahmed (Nalbari), Pranjal Burman (Nalbari), Jayanta Deka (Basistha) and Jayanta Das (Goalpara). A case (2087/22 u/s 120(B)/420/468/471 IPC) was registered at the Dispur Police Station.
