Don Bosco School Guwahati Organizes An Inter-School Event “EcoFest” 2019

GUWAHATI: The Eco Club of Don Bosco School, Panbazar, Guwahati organized an inter-school event called the “EcoFest”.

EcoFest 2019 was an event which emphasized on spreading awareness over various environmental issues. This was an event motivating the youth of Guwahati to join hands and work together for the betterment of the world’s environmental state. The organizers of this event planned a lot of campaigns including the “BYOB”, that is, the “bring your own bottle” refusing the use of plastic bottles during the event.

The event started with an energizing vibe. During the opening ceremony, the guest of honor, Dr. Ashwini Sharma, Northeast Head of UN Chapter, spoke about how the world is changing. The chief guest, AM Singh also motivated the students present. Soon after this, there was a short seminar by Padma Shri Jadav Payeng, also known as the ‘forest man of India’. All the guests of this ceremony were felicitated by presenting them with plant sapling. The Eco Club President, Rishav Parashar, during his speech said, “Be a part of the solution, not the pollution.” Then the principal of Don Bosco School Fr. Sebastian Mathew declared the feast open.

Soon after the opening ceremony, various competitions began. These competitions included the doodle art competition, the photography competition, the quiz competition and the battle of the bands. There were orientations about each competition to elaborate on the rules for the participants. Students from various schools participated in these contests very actively.
