GUWAHATI: The Supreme Court on Monday sought the response of the Assam government and others on a plea against an order of the Gauhati High Court that dismissed a PIL seeking an independent probe into the encounter killings in Assam under the supervision of the Gauhati High Court.

Delhi-based lawyer and activist Arif Md. Yeasin Jwadder had filed Special Leave Petition (Crl) No. 7929/2023 after Gauhati HC declined to order an independent probe related to the encounter killing in Assam.
