GUWAHATI: Former MLA from Barama, Paniram Rabha passed away at a city hospital on Saturday. He was undergoing treatment at the hospital for quite some time.
He was first elected to the State Assembly in 1991 on a NAGP (Natun Asom Gana Parishad)ticket from the same constituency. In 1996, Rabha joined the Congress. Subsequently, in 2001, he was re-elected from Barama.
Condolences have been poured in from many organisations, party leaders, former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, and APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) president Bhupen Borah among others.
