Female voters outnumber their male counterparts in 51 LACs of Assam

The final photo electoral roll-2023 shows that female voters have outnumbered their male counterparts in 51 of 126 LACs (Legislative Assembly Constituencies) in Assam.

GUWAHATI: The final photo electoral roll-2023 shows that female voters have outnumbered their male counterparts in 51 of 126 LACs (Legislative Assembly Constituencies) in Assam.

Even more interesting is that in five districts, female voters have outnumbered their male counterparts in all LACs. The five districts are Kamrup (M) with 599196 female voters against 580231 male voters, Dibrugarh with 553675 female voters against 537347 male voters, Jorhat with 403017 female voters against 391798 male voters, Dima Hasao with 75377 female voters against 75296 male voters and Charaideo with 162677 female voters against 161232 male voters.

Kamrup (M) has four LACs, Dibrugarh has seven LACs, Jorhat has five LACs, Dima Hasao has one LAC, and Charaideo has two LACs.

The 51 LACs with more female voters are - Silchar, Sonai and Uddarbond in the Cachar district; Haflong in the Dima Hasao district; Howraghat and Diphu in the Karbi Anglong district; Kokrajhar East in the Kokrajhar district; Sidli in the Chirang district; Bongaigaon in the Bongaigaon district; Dudhnoi and Goalpara East in the Goalpara district; Palasbari in the Kamrup district; Jakukbari, Dispur, Gauhati East and Gauhati West in the Kamrup (M) district; Chapaguri in the Baksa district; Panery and Udalguri in the Udalguri district; Tezpur and Rangapara in the Sonitpur district; Biswanath in the Biswanath district; Morigaon in the Morigaon district; Nowgong, Barhampur and Kaliabor in the Nagaon district; Bokakhat, Golaghat and Khumtai in the Golaghat district; Dhergaon, Jorhat, Teok, Titabor and Mariani in the Jorhat district; Amguri, Sibsagar and Nazira in the Sivasagar district; Mahmora and Sonari in the Charaideo district; Lakhimpur in the Lakhimpur district; Moran, Dibrugarh, Lahowal, Duliajan, Tingkhong, Naharkatia and Chabua in the Dibrugarh district; Tinsukia, Digboi, Doomdooma and Margherita in the Tinsukia district.

According to the final photo electoral roll published on January 27 this year, the total number of voters in the state is 2,41,11,743. Of this, 1,21,28,543 are male voters, 1,19,82,804 are female voters, and 396 are third-gender voters. It marks an increase of 0.96 per cent from the draft integrated photo electoral roll published on November 9, 2022. The integrated draft electoral roll for Assam consisted of 2,38,81,196 voters.
