Flood-Free Guwahati: Monitoring Teams Formed To Supervise Drain De-Siltation

Each team, comprising of inspecting engineers, councilors and social workers, will be responsible for a particular area.

GUWAHATI: According to the decision made at the Mission Flood Free Review meeting on March 7, 2025, 20 teams from different wards have been formed to oversee the de-siltation work carried out by the GMC and PWD in rivers, major and minor drains falling under the GMC's jurisdiction. Each team, comprising of inspecting engineers, councilors and social workers, is responsible for a different area.

Therefore, these committees will be responsible for ensuring proper de-siltation of drains done by the departments through contractors from time to time as per the contract condition, interacting with the public about the works done under Mission Flood Free, taking feedback, and informing the undersigned, initiating a grievance reception mechanism so that any grievance is received immediately by the committee for authorities to act upon.

This directive is issued in the greater public interest and as per the relevant provisions laid down in Sec. 30.2 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
