Gaurav Gogoi urges PM Modi for special relief package for flood-ravaged Upper Assam

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi has urged PM Narendra Modi to sanction a special relief and rehabilitation package for flood-affected areas of Upper Assam, citing the unprecedented devastation caused by the recent floods.

GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sanction a special relief and rehabilitation package for flood-affected areas of Upper Assam, citing the unprecedented devastation caused by the recent floods. In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister on July 30, Gogoi highlighted the extensive damage and human suffering in the districts of Sivasagar, Charaideo and Jorhat. He underscored the scale of the disaster and the widespread destruction of public infrastructure, loss of lives and damage to livelihoods. He urged the Centre to sanction a special relief and rehabilitation package to support recovery and reconstruction efforts in the affected areas. According to a statement, Gogoi has received an acknowledgement from the Prime Minister regarding his request.
