GUWAHATI: The Bhumi Adhikar Sangram Samittee, Assam sat for a dharna at Dispur Last Gate on Friday, and through a memorandum addressed to the CM of Assam, expressed their grievances. The crux of the protest was owing to pattas denied to 30 lakh indigenous people, who have been continuously conned by each government. “The Government should stop duping indigenous with promises of patta land”, President of the Samittee Prabin Jyoti Kalita stated. The Samittee demanded that land provisions should be made to the indigenous people right at the place where they are residing without any complexities. Condemning the ensuing Revenue Department scams, they demanded an instant cease to it. Allocation of land without a premium for BPL families was put forth by the Samittee, who urged that more people (if only on a temp basis) are recruited by the DC and Circle Office to quicken the process.

A demand for land for families affected by flood and erosion was also placed and the Samittee urged the government not to deceive the people like the previous times, by providing land to just a few before elections.
