Governor Jagdish Mukhi, CM Sarbananda Sonowal Condole Death of Sushma Swaraj

GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi condoled the sudden demise of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj who passed away on Tuesday.

In his condolence message, Prof Mukhi termed Swaraj, a towering personality and a powerful voice who had played a crucial role for championing the cause of the poor and under-privileged.

Prof Mukhi also said that her sagacity and leadership as the former Chief Minister of Delhi and cabinet ministers of the country have been a source of inspiration and guidance to many.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also condoled the untimely demise of former union minister Sushma Swaraj. In a statement, Chief Minister Sonowal said, “I mourn the death of former union minister Sushma Swaraj as her death marks the end of a glorious chapter in Indian political system”.

In a deeply saddened incident, former external affairs minister and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj passed away on Tuesday at AIIMS in New Delhi. The veteran BJP leader suffered a major heart attack, died at the age of 67.

Her body was kept at the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters in the heart of the capital for the public to pay homage.

The sudden demise of Indian political giant Sushma Swaraj has not only appeared as a major shock to the politicians and the masses of the people, but the celebrities of Hindi film industry have also expressed their shock and grief over the loss. Right from Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Rishi Kapoor, Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor to Yami Gautam, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanjay Dutt, Vivek Oberoi, Arjun Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Riteish Deshmukh, Parineeti Chopra and an N number of celebrities have tweeted their condolences at Swaraj’s death.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, BJP stalwart LK Advani, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah and senior leaders of other parties were attending the funeral.
