GUWAHATI: In preparation for the second phase of the Panchayat elections scheduled for May 7, election materials, including ballot boxes, were distributed on Tuesday for polling in the Jalukbari and Dimoria constituencies under Kamrup Metropolitan District. The distribution took place at the office of the Jalukbari constituency commissioner and the TRICEM community hall in Dimoria constituency. Following the distribution, teams of polling officers departed for their designated polling stations with the necessary materials in assigned vehicles.
Kamrup Metropolitan District comprises six Zilla Parishads, three Anchalik Parishads, and 20 Gaon Panchayats, which together include 200 wards. According to the district election office, a total of 1,89,021 voters are registered across the two constituencies. Among these, 97,588 are female voters, 91,425 are male voters, and eight are voters from the third gender. A total of 266 polling stations have been set up-66 in Jalukbari and 200 in Dimoria.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the voting process, around 307 presiding officers and approximately 921 polling officers have been deployed, along with necessary security personnel. The Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration has made all necessary arrangements to ensure that the polling process is conducted efficiently and without any disruption.
