GUWAHATI: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) organized a special event to commemorate National Press Day at its head office in Rajiv Bhawan, Guwahati, on Thursday.

The National Press Day event was organized by the Media Cell of the political party and saw the presence of a large number of participants from print and electronic media as well as officials from the party itself.

The co-president of the media cell, Mehdi Alam Bora, and senior spokeswoman of the APCC, Imdad Hussain, led the celebrations and gave their best wishes to the members of the press on the occasion. Several other leaders of the party also addressed the gathering. In their speeches, the leaders spoke about the need for free and responsible journalism in a democratic society and highlighted the immense importance of journalists and the sacrifices they are forced to make. They also mentioned that during the Congress rule, there was no political pressure on the journalists. The participants also expressed their gratitude to APCC for the celebration of this important day.
