GUWAHATI: The Assam State Legal Services Authority (ASLSA) has organised the National Lok Adalat along with the rest of the country today in coordination with the Gauhati High Court Legal Services Committee as well as 33 district legal services authorities and two taluk legal services committees.
The National Lok Adalat was a great success as a good number of cases have been disposed of, including NI Act cases under Section 138, bank recovery cases, electricity bills, matrimonial disputes, MACT cases, the M.V. Act, and other civil and criminal compoundable cases.
The total number of cases, both pre-litigation and pending, that were taken up in the National Lok Adalat across the state was 200,463, of which 29,021 cases were amicably disposed of. The settlement amount was over Rs. 127 crore, a press release said.
