GUWAHATI: A team from Basistha Police Station has demonstrated swift and effective action in tracing a stolen bicycle and apprehending a thief. Within 12 hours of the report, the police team tracked down Bastob Sarmah of Lalmati, who had stolen a red and black Jetfire bicycle worth Rs 12,000 from a Hospital on May 1. During the operation, the police recovered the stolen bicycle, along with two mobile phones, from Sarmah’s possession. The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation, leading to the recovery of the stolen item.
In a separate incident, a team from Basistha Police Station arrested two accused based on leads provided by previously arrested Imran Jamadar. The arrested individuals are Saddam Ali and Nur Muhammad, both veteran burglars. During the operation, the police recovered a substantial amount of stolen jewellery, including gold earrings, silver chains, silver bracelets, silver rings, and a gold nose pin. The police also seized various tools used in the commission of the crime, such as a hammer, wrench, gas lighter, scissors, and a screwdriver. Additionally, a mobile phone, and Rs 3,540 in cash were recovered. The accused were apprehended at Kanaklata Path, Borsajai, and legal action has been initiated against them.
