GUWAHATI: In an effort to raise awareness and promote safer construction practices in the earthquake-prone northeastern region of India, the Builders Association of India (BAI) organized a seminar on the topic of ‘Major Earthquake’ in Guwahati. The Northeast, including Assam, falls within a high seismic risk zone, making earthquake preparedness a pressing concern for local builders, engineers, and urban planners.
The seminar aimed at minimizing the loss of life and property during major seismic events by disseminating vital information about earthquake-resistant construction techniques. BAI Chairman Rupesh Khakholia inaugurated the event and extended a warm welcome to all speakers and distinguished guests. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in enhancing the region’s resilience against natural disasters.
