Guwahati is gearing up for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, with preparations underway in full swing.

GUWAHATI: Guwahati is gearing up for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, with preparations underway in full swing. A high-level meeting was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Kamrup Metropolitan District Commissioner, Sumit Sattawan, to review the arrangements for the event.

The police department is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety and security of the participants and spectators. The traffic police are working to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize congestion during the celebrations. Meanwhile, parade rehearsals are underway at various locations across the city, with the Assam Police, paramilitary forces, school and college students, and NCC cadets participating in the drills.

A team from the Tripura Police will also participate in the Republic Day celebrations, adding to the festive spirit. With just a few days left for the Republic Day celebrations, the district administration and police department are working tirelessly to ensure a memorable and incident-free event. The Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara will be the venue for the main event, which will showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage and military prowess.

The meeting, attended by officials from various departments, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanjeev Dalai, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Security & Intelligence) Dhruva Bora, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jayanta Sarathi Bora, focused on ensuring tight security, smooth traffic management, and other necessary arrangements for the celebrations.
