Guwahati: In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the local academic community, the managing director of a private coaching institute in Guwahati was found dead by suicide on Sunday in the Dakshin Gaon area. The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Pawan Hazarika, originally from Lakhimpur district.
Preliminary reports suggest that the young businessman may have taken the drastic step due to prolonged mental harassment and financial distress.
A police team from Bhagadattapur Police Outpost reached the spot and has initiated a detailed investigation. During the probe, a suicide note was reportedly recovered from the scene. In the note, Hazarika is believed to have mentioned a financial dispute involving a sum of Rs 60 lakh, raising suspicions of monetary pressure being a contributing factor.
Following initial enquiries, police have detained a youth identified as Ankit Agarwala for questioning. Investigators are exploring the possibility that Hazarika was subjected to psychological harassment and financial coercion leading up to his death.
Police officials stated that all aspects, including personal and financial angles, are being thoroughly examined.
