Guwahati: The Kamrup Metropolitan District Transport Office (DTO) launched a month-long initiative titled “Complete Service Month”, aimed at promoting responsible driving among students and providing instant resolution of vehicle documentation issues for select citizen groups. The campaign, which will run throughout July, focuses on providing free driving education and training to students from higher secondary to postgraduate levels. Additionally, it offers immediate assistance with vehicle-related document issues for teachers, doctors, advocates, journalists, senior citizens, and families of ex-servicemen.

At the inaugural function held at the DTO office in Guwahati, dignitaries from media, education, legal, and civil society sectors participated. Special Duty Officer Gautam Das outlined the objectives, noting the campaign aligns with Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s vision of making Assam an accident-free state. He called on the youth to become law-abiding drivers and responsible road users.

Editor of Niyomiya Barta Naresh Kalita lauded the DTO’s outreach and urged citizens to support the initiative. Veteran journalist Pranoy Bordoloi highlighted the need for two-wheeler riders to adopt safer practices, while Pinky Hazarika, Deputy Director of Higher Education, appealed to the youth to strictly follow traffic rules.

The event opened with shloka chanting by representatives from the Shri Shri Narowa Chaturbhuj Satra. Inspector Vikramaditya Gogoi was felicitated in a traditional ceremony, and former Commissioner Utpalananda Sharma (IAS) inaugurated the free driving training at the Honda Safety Driving Education Centre.
