GUWAHATI: A 10-day national-level workshop sponsored by the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) was held between April 1 and April 10, 2025, at Cotton University. The workshop, organized by the Department of Geography of Cotton University, was organized specially for PhD research scholars of social sciences. Thirty research scholars from universities of different states like Orissa, Jharkhand, Lucknow, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya, in addition to the scholars from different universities of Assam like Dibrugarh University, Assam University, Majuli Cultural University, Don Bosco University, and Cotton University, participated in the workshop. Similarly, 16 resource persons from reputed universities and organisations like IIT Guwahati, Tezpur University, Viswa Bharati, North East Hill University, Rajib Gandhi University, Gauhati University , North East Space Application Centre, OKD Institute of Social Change and Development, and Cotton University conducted 31 sessions on research methodology of social sciences.
Participants as well as the resource persons were from diverse fields of social sciences like sociology, economics, political science, anthropology, history, geography, library sciences, gender studies, etc. The inaugural session of the workshop on April 1, 2025, was graced by Vice Chancellor of Cotton University Prof. Ramesh Ch. Deka as the chief guest and retired Prof. Debendra Kr. Nayak, NEHU, as guest of honour, stated a press release.
