Guwahati: The grand cultural procession organized by Cotton University as part of its University Week celebrations ran into controversy after the Kamrup Metro District Administration denied permission for the event. Despite the setback, over 3,000 students participated, showcasing Assam's rich cultural heritage. The lack of official clearance led to a chaotic situation, sparking tensions within the university. Disagreements arose between members of the Cotton University Students' Unity Forum and faculty members, further complicating matters. During the commotion, a female member of the Students' Unity Forum allegedly misbehaved with a faculty member, escalating the situation. In response, an agitated professor was seen reprimanding a forum member on camera, adding to the controversy. The incident has raised concerns among students and faculty alike, with many questioning the handling of the event and the need for better coordination between the administration and university authorities. The university has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
