Guwahati: Dr Kajol Saikia’s Poetry Collection Unveiled at Vivekananda Kendra Auditorium

BOKAKHAT: Dr Kajol Saikia’s, Chief General Manager (Human Resources and Legal Department) of Numaligarh Refinery and a distinguished poet and philosopher, Poetry collection ‘Premor Panthshala’ was unveiled in a solemn event held on Sunday evening at the Vivekananda Kendra auditorium in Uzanbazar, Guwahati. The event was organized by the Numaligarh Refinery Branch Literary Society.

The event began with a welcome address by the society’s vice president, Sangam Panchanan, followed by a Saraswati Vandana performed by Cotton University student Mahattwakamksha Kashyap. The event was anchored by Dr Muktikam Hazarika, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Cotton University.

Assam Police Inspector General and renowned poet Prashanta Sagar Changmai; noted actor and reciter Pranjal Saikia; Executive Editor of ‘Amar Asom’ newspaper Gautam Sharma; renowned poets Dr Bipuljyoti Saikia and Atanu Bhattacharya; eminent litterateur Monikuntala Bhattacharya; and poet Pranab Kumar Barman unveiled the collection.

In a brief speech, Monikuntala Bhattacharya expressed regret that in Assam, the number of people who read poetry is far less than those who write it. Prashanta Sagar Changmai reminisced about his hostel memories with Dr Kajol Saikia at Cotton College, while Gautam Sharma shared memories from their time at the Assam-type Hostel No. 6 of Gauhati University and praised the poet’s immense talent.
