GUWAHATI: Basistha police arrested a woman, named Sajida Begum (32), a resident of Algapur in Hailakandi district, from Sawkuchi on Saturday. The police seized heroin worth around Rs 2 crore from her. In a blow to drug peddling, a team from Basistha PS acted on intelligence input and apprehended notorious drug peddler Sajida Begum (32) of Algapur. The police seized 278.38 grams of heroin (packed in 4 soap boxes and 13 plastic packets), Rs 1,49,500 in cash, and a mobile phone. A follow-up search at her rented house in Datalpara, Natun Basti (under Fatashil Ambari PS), led to the recovery of 1800 empty vials and 100 empty soap boxes. A team from Panbazaar PS raided a hideout at Rail Gate No. 2 and arrested an individual named Saidul Islam (24) of Dhubri. A total of 17 vials of heroin, weighing 22.45 gm, were recovered and seized. Legal action initiated.  A team from Panbazaar PS and Fancy Bazaar OP nabbed Prakash Jha (19), who flipped an e-commerce delivery bag for a stealing cart. The loot included 61 gamosa, 3 umbrellas, shoes, shirts, track pants, a pillow, two bed sheets, a pillow cover, cosmetics, 59 empty vials and 2 syringes, and decorative items, including a chessboard, one pair of Crocs slippers, etc.
