Guwahati: Drugs seized; peddlers arrested in city

In a series of coordinated operations, city police teams carried out multiple raids across the city, leading to the arrest of several drug peddlers and the seizure of heroin, ganja, and cash.

Guwahati: In a series of coordinated operations, city police teams carried out multiple raids across the city, leading to the arrest of several drug peddlers and the seizure of heroin, ganja, and cash. In the first case, a team from Basistha Police Station raided a location in Khanapara based on specific intelligence inputs. The team apprehended Brajen Baishya (31) of Barama, a notorious drug peddler. During the raid, police recovered 4 boxes of heroin weighing 31.96 grams, 26 empty vials, one mobile phone, and Rs 1,020 in cash from his possession. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused.

In another operation, a team from Satgaon Police Station apprehended Momina Begum (34) from her residence at Nowapara Milijuli Path. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided her house and recovered 1.312 kg of ganja along with Rs 57,000 in cash. The accused is currently in custody, and further investigation is underway.
