GUWAHATI: Education and Tribal Affairs (Plain) Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu distributed financial assistance to indigenous places of worships under the Department of Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture at GMCH auditorium in Guwahati today.
The minister distributed Rs 5 crore to All Bathou Mohasabha (ABM) for its under-construction Heritage Centre at Gorchuk in Guwahati for the financial year 2024-25, Rs 50 lakh for the triennial conference of the ABM, Rs 10 lakh each as the second instalment of five tribal institutions, including the All Assam Brahma Dharma Managing Committee, Rs 5 lakh each to 36 Indigenous places of worship as the second instalment, Rs 5 lakh each to 100 Bathou Thansali and 98 Brahma temples.
These amounts have already been transferred to the bank accounts of the respective DC offices.
Speaking at the function, Dr. Pegu said, "Since faith is the identity of a community, we are committed to the development of the faith and places of worship of the indigenous communities of the state. Each tribal community has its exclusive history. Strengthening our exclusive identities, we need to development them as a mass movement."
Indigenous, Tribal Faith and Culture Minister Jogen Mohan was also present at the function.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Pegu distributed appointment letters to 12 assistant professors for engineering colleges at Janata Bhawan.
