GUWAHATI: In an unusual blend of technology and criminal ingenuity, Guwahati Police have uncovered a scam involving a Flipkart delivery agent who allegedly exploited his position to steal premium laptop processors. The accused, Soyeb Khan (27), a resident of Surat, Gujarat, was arrested by personnel from the Paltan Bazar Police Station under the Commissionerate of Guwahati Police.

According to police officials, Khan placed multiple orders for high-value laptop processors—each worth approximately Rs 50,000—using fake customer identities. Once the shipments reached him in his capacity as a delivery executive, he reportedly opened the parcels, swapped the original processors with counterfeit parts, and marked the deliveries as “customer not available.” This tactic allowed him to discreetly return the packages to the warehouse without raising immediate suspicion.

The scam came to light following an internal alert and subsequent investigation. Authorities discovered that four stolen processors had already been dispatched to Surat, while four genuine units were recovered from Khan’s possession in Guwahati. Additionally, three suspected fake processors were seized during the operation.

Adding a tech-savvy twist to the announcement, Guwahati Police humorously described the bust as an upgrade from “Delivery OS to Lock-Up v1.0,” referring to the technical nature of the crime.

Police said that the accused is currently in custody as police continue their investigation to determine if a broader network or resale operation is involved. Flipkart has confirmed its cooperation with the ongoing inquiry.
