Guwahati: Geetanagar Police busted Interstate car theft racket; 5 arrested

The Geetanagar Police have busted an interstate car theft racket that was operating under the guise of a car rental agency.

Guwahati: The Geetanagar Police have busted an interstate car theft racket that was operating under the guise of a car rental agency. According to police sources, the accused would acquire vehicles by posing as agents of car rental services and later sell them in other northeastern states like Mizoram, Tripura, etc. Five individuals have been arrested in connection with the racket. The key accused have been identified as Gagan Baishya, Nayan Deka, and Dhritiraj Deka. Two others Sadiul Rahman, operating from Mizoram, and Abdul Qasim Chaudhary, based in Tripura were allegedly handling the other work.
