Guwahati: In a bid to strengthen urban infrastructure and enhance public safety, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) inaugurated a new high-mast light at Krishna Namghar in West Boragaon New Basti, under Ward No. 10 recently. The project, part of GMC’s ongoing citywide illumination drive, was executed using corporation funds under the leadership of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ward No. 10 Councillor Kalpana Das, local community leaders, and residents, who warmly welcomed the initiative.

Speaking at the event, GMC officials emphasized that the illumination drive is aimed at improving visibility, reducing accidents, and ensuring safety in key public spaces such as roads, parks, and institutions—especially in developing and underserved localities.

Residents of the area expressed gratitude for the timely infrastructure upgrade and urged the civic body to undertake similar developmental work in other parts of the ward.
