GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has launched an extensive cleaning drive across the city, ramping up efforts to ensure cleaner roads and public spaces ahead of scheduled VVIP and VIP visits.
Excavators and road-sweeping machines have been deployed to remove unauthorised Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste from various locations. The initiative aims to address the long-standing issue of waste dumped along roadsides, which not only hampers pedestrian movement but also affects the city’s aesthetics.
On Thursday morning, GMC undertook a massive cleanup drive along MT Road, clearing footpaths and roadsides to create a safer and more accessible environment for residents. Officials emphasized that such efforts will continue to maintain cleanliness and improve Guwahati’s urban landscape.
Residents have been urged to dispose of waste responsibly and cooperate with GMC to sustain the city’s cleanliness.
