GUWAHATI: In a continued effort to maintain the cleanliness of Guwahati’s water bodies, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Safai Mitras have been working tirelessly to clean the waste along Lachit Ghat. The initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to keep the Brahmaputra and other local water bodies free from pollution. The GMC’s dedicated team of Safai Mitras has been on the ground collecting waste from the banks of the Brahmaputra, ensuring that the river remains a safe and clean resource for the community. This comes at a time when concerns about the growing levels of littering in the city’s water bodies have reached a peak.
“The Safai Mitras are doing a fantastic job in cleaning up waste from areas like Lachit Ghat,” said a local resident. “But it’s crucial for everyone to do their part and avoid littering in the Brahmaputra and other water bodies.” Authorities are urging citizens to be more responsible with waste disposal and to actively avoid polluting the city’s waterways. Efforts to clean the river and its banks are ongoing, but officials stress that community participation is key to ensuring the sustainability of these water bodies for future generations.
