Mridul and Deepanjan clinch title

GUWAHATI: Mridul Ram Kalita and Deepanjan Das clinched the seventh edition of the Pulin Das Memorial Open Prize-Money Sports Quiz Competition title-2024, organised by the Guwahati Tennis Association (GTA) in Guwahati today.
While Bikram Deka and Chandan Duorah bagged the first runner-up prize, Sayan Majumdar and Gaurav Haloi won the second runner-up prize, respectively. The competition was successfully conducted by noted quiz masters Dipankar Koushik and Dilip Kumar Sharma.
Altogether, 26 teams from various parts of the region participated in the first stage of the competition, held as a preliminary and screening round, from where six teams were selected for the final round. The final round was eight rounds of affairs comprising two audiovisual rounds, three buzzer rounds, one photo frame round, one take your choice round, and two dry dose rounds, respectively. This year, the organisers also introduced a written sports quiz competition for the school children till class XII, which was designed to fuel passion for sports while challenging young minds to showcase their knowledge of sports, players, and iconic moments. While Bibek Barman and Suraj Ahmed (Little Flower School, Nalbari) clinched the first prize, Dhrubarka Ranjan Sarma and Nibir Niloy Baishya (Maharshi Vidya Mandir, Silpukhuri, Guwahati) won second prize, and Mriganka Saha and Niloy Kashyap (South Point School) won the third prize, respectively. In the closing function, Kalyan Kumar Das, president of the Association, welcomed the august gathering and distinguished guests.
The top three winning teams were presented with cash awards of Rs. 12,000, Rs. 8,000, and Rs. 6,000, respectively, along with trophies. Cash awards of Rs. 2,000 each were also presented to the fourth to sixth position team holders. In the written sports quiz competition, the top three winning teams were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 2,000, Rs. 1,500, and Rs. 1,000, respectively.
Earlier, in the inaugural function, floral tributes were paid to the eminent sports organiser Kriramohiruh Pulin Das by all the gathering present.
