GUWAHATI: In a prestigious ceremony organized by the International Academy of Ethics, Vice-Chancellor of Pragjyotishpur University, Guwahati, Dr Smriti Kumar Sinha, was honoured with the Fellowship of the Academy. This rare distinction is awarded to individuals of extraordinary merit who have made significant contributions in their respective fields. Dr Sinha, a noted computer professional and creative writer, expressed his gratitude to the Academy’s president, Dr Jernail S. Anand, and vice president, Dr Maja Herman Sekulic, during his acceptance speech. In his address, Dr Sinha made compelling observations about the marginalized languages in India, describing them as “languages in the ICU.” His concern for these endangered languages was echoed by senior academician Dr Basudeb Chakraborti, former Dean of the University of Kalyani and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the IAE. Dr Chakraborti welcomed Dr Sinha and voiced strong support for the preservation and promotion of these neglected linguistic traditions, stated a press release.
