Guwahati: In a bid to ensure road safety and reduce accidents, authorities in Kamrup (M) have intensified enforcement against drunk driving with night drives at various locations across the district.
According to officials, the initiative focuses on ensuring accident-free roads by cracking down on reckless driving behavior. “We are adopting a zero-tolerance approach this time to safeguard lives,” said an enforcement officer overseeing the operation.
The night drives, which involve spot checks and breathalyzer tests, have been rolled out in high-traffic areas and accident-prone zones. Teams comprising traffic police and enforcement officials are actively monitoring and penalizing violators to deter drunk driving during the holiday season. Authorities have urged citizens to act responsibly by avoiding driving under the influence and utilizing safer options like cabs and designated drivers for transportation.
