GUWAHATI: In a shocking turn of events, a man from Morigaon, identified as Ekramul Hussain Choudhury, allegedly staged his own abduction drama in Guwahati to avoid paying finance-related funds. According to the police, Choudhury had collected money from multiple individuals for finance-related transactions but failed to deposit the amount with the respective institutions.

On Tuesday, when Choudhury arrived in Guwahati, agents from the financial institutions confronted him, demanding payment. Choudhury assured them that he would make the payment and claimed that his wife would come to Guwahati to settle the matter. However, instead of making the payment, his wife lodged an abduction complaint at Dispur Police Station, claiming that her husband had been kidnapped, police sources said.

The police detained three persons and seized two vehicles in connection with the alleged abduction. However, during the investigation, it was revealed that Choudhury had staged the abduction drama to avoid paying his financial obligations. Choudhury had initially claimed that around 10-12 youths had intercepted his vehicle at 6:30 PM on Tuesday and forcibly took him in a Scorpio and a Nexon. He stated that he had come to Guwahati to purchase a car but was taken to multiple locations before being held at Garbhanga. His alleged abductors had demanded Rs 6 lakh for his release, police sources said.
