Guwahati: Minister Ranoj Pegu Assures Substantial Help for Assam Science Society

State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu, who paid a visit to Assam Science Society (ASS) on Sunday afternoon, assured to purchase its books and offer help urgently needed by the Society.

GUWAHATI: State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu, who paid a visit to Assam Science Society (ASS) on Sunday afternoon, assured to purchase its books and offer help urgently needed by the Society.

Minister Pegu had a cordial discussion with its newly-elected President Dr Arup Kumar Mishra, former president Dr Dhireswar Kalita, Secretary Mrinal Hazarika, and other office bearers of the society who had assembled there in connection with its executive meeting.  President Dr Mishra apprised Minister Pegu about the financial crisis currently being faced by the society.

In reply, Dr Pegu assured to buy the books published by the Society under Taburam Taid Library Foundation. He further assured to distribute the science magazine 'Bigyan Jeuti' published by the society to 4,300 schools through Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).

When it was brought to the notice of the minister that the mobile science laboratory of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) was lying in dilapidated condition due to its discontinuation, he assured that it would be made operational under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan for the larger interests of the students. Dr Pegu expressed satisfaction while strolling in the spacious campus of Assam Science Society and expressed hope that under the leadership of Dr Arup Kumar Mishra, who is also the Chairman of Assam Pollution Control Board, ASS would become a vibrant organization and take a lead in the field of science and technology.
