GUWAHATI: The Veterinary branch and Enforcement branch of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) and Assam Police jointly inspected and evicted poultry, mutton, fish and vegetable vendors on the roadside and footpath.
The eviction drive was carried out in areas like BK Kakati Road, Ulubari, Sarabhati, Cancer Hospital Birubari, Ambari Tiniali, Fatasil GMC Market, Colony Bazar, Lalganesh and Lokhara. During the drive, one meat shop was sealed, more than 400 shops were evicted and 150 kg mutton, 100 kg poultry, 600 kg vegetables, 250 kg fish were seized. The team also imposed Rs 10,000 as penalty.
The unauthorized seized items were disposed at Boragoan dumping ground.
