GUWAHATI: The Health & Enforcement wings of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Friday conducted a trade license inspection drive in Athgaon and Kumarpara area of the city. During the drive, a total of nine business establishments were inspected, including 3 fast food stalls, 4 hardware shops, 1 sweet shop and 1 unisex salon. Among them three business establishments were found to be operating without a valid trade license. Notably all the three violators were fast food eateries operating from Athgaon area.
Fines were enforced under the terms of the GMC Act for violations of specific rules and regulations. Moreover, during the same drive, one shop that was functioning on an expanding walkway and obstructing public transportation was evicted. During the drive, a total amount of Rs 11,000 was collected as penalty.
