Guwahati Municipal Corporation conducts checking drive

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) conducted drives in Maligaon, Pandu, Ulubari and Gotanagar areas of the city on Thursday against unauthorized hoardings, glowsigns and accumulation of scrap material.

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) conducted drives in Maligaon, Pandu, Ulubari and Gotanagar areas of the city on Thursday against unauthorized hoardings, glowsigns and accumulation of scrap material.

A total of 20 business establishments were visited the drives, including hotels, lodges, restaurants, men's saloons, Unisex spas and salons, doctors' chambers, grocery stores, departmental stores, dhabas, mineral water plant, etc.

An unauthorised permanent land hoardings located was evicted and notices were pasted over eight unauthorised glowsigns at Ulubari, while a total of 702 kg of iron scrap was collected.

A spa at Maligaon, a water bottling plant at Pandu, a guest at Maligaon, a machinery workshop at Maligaon and a men's salon at Maligaon were found to be violating GMC rules.

Fines were imposed and notices were served against these business establishments under the terms of the GMC Act for violations of specific rules and regulations.
