GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) earned revenue of Rs 113 crore in the financial year 2021-2022, which is the highest amount collected by the civic body since it became a corporation.
The property tax department of the GMC collected revenue worth Rs 62 crore. It also detected 2,41,483 property tax defaulters during this period. The licence branch collected revenue worth Rs 22 crore.
The hoarding and advertisement branch collected revenue worth Rs 18 crore, while the planning branch collected revenue worth Rs 11 crore.
GMC sources said that revenue collection increased in the last few months of 2021 due to joint collection drives with other departments, including the Assam Urban Development department, Assam State Urban Livelihood Mission etc..
