GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has urged builders and property owners not to use the public road space to store construction materials and warned them that a penalty will be imposed on such offenders.
The GMC has made a post in this regard on social media.
It is pertinent to point out that dumping of construction materials on roads – such as earth, sand, gravel etc., - is endemic in numerous areas of the city. Dumping of construction materials on the roadside not only impedes movement of both pedestrians and vehicular traffic, but also has an adverse affect on passersby with bronchial problems.
Moreover, such dumping also leads to blockage of drains and fuels artificial floods.
