GUWAHATI: Arya Vidyapeeth College (Autonomous), Guwahati, witnessed the grand inauguration of a state-of-the-art obstacle course and .22 rifle firing simulator on its campus. The inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, was graced by Brigadier Ajit Kumar Borah, Vishisht Seva Medal, and Group Commander of NCC Group Headquarters, Guwahati, as the chief guest.
The installation of the Obstacle Course and the Firing Simulator is the result of tireless effort and close collaboration between the 60 Assam Girls Battalion and Arya Vidyapeeth College. The initiative led by the commanding officer, with invaluable support from the college principal and ANO, exemplifies successful institutional cooperation.
The Obstacle Course, the first of its kind in Guwahati, comprises ten physical challenges specifically designed to enhance the physical endurance, agility, and discipline of NCC cadets. It will benefit both Senior Wing Girl Cadets and Senior Division Boy Cadets, especially those gearing up for national-level camps such as the Thal Sainik Camp (TSC). The course is in alignment with the physical benchmarks expected during selection processes for the Indian Armed Forces and the Central Armed Police Forces.
Speaking at the event, Brigadier Ajit Kumar Borah commended the establishment of the training infrastructure, describing it as a milestone that will greatly contribute to shaping the leadership qualities and discipline of young cadets. “These assets reflect the commitment of NCC and institutions like Arya Vidyapeeth College in preparing future leaders,” he remarked.
The cadets’ demonstration on the obstacle course showcased their strength, discipline, and enthusiasm, drawing applause from the gathered audience. The event also featured the inauguration of the .22 Rifle Firing Simulator, a technologically advanced training tool equipped with four rifles and a computer-based interface. The simulator enables cadets to safely practice Grouping Fire, Application Fire, and Classification Fire, offering an experience that closely replicates live firing conditions.
The initiative, jointly executed by the 60 Assam Girls Battalion NCC, NCC Group HQ Guwahati, and Arya Vidyapeeth College, stands as a testament to the power of coordinated effort and shared vision.
Dr Pradip Kumar Bhattacharyya, Principal of Arya Vidyapeeth College, expressed his pride in hosting such a pivotal development and reiterated the institution’s commitment to the holistic growth of its students.
