GUWAHATI: “College Students Welfare Committee”, an NGO that works for the welfare of the youth, donated a collection of books to the library of the Assam Tea Tribes’ Boys Hostel. It should be noted that the library was recently gutted in a fire. Speaking on the occasion Abhinav Pankaj Borbora, the president of the NGO said that “By donating these books we are trying to make a small contribution to the on-going efforts to rebuild the library”. The donated books are on a variety of subjects including history and politics and have been provided to the organization by Mr Partha Pratim Hazarika, Assistant Editor of The Assam Tribune. It should be noted that the books were donated under the library capacity building program of the NGO called “Give Back to the Library”. During the event, the NGO also felicitated Rupankar Bhattacharjee, a young conservationist. Bhattacharjee along with another of his colleague has devised a process for producing paper from Water Hyacinth plants and his work has also been positively noted by Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Borbora hailed Bhattacharjee as a “powerful role model for the youth”.
