Hrithik Yadav is accused of sexually assaulting a minor here in 2022

Guwahati: A CID team arrested a youth identified as Hrithik Yadav, accused in a POCSO case, from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, and brought him to Guwahati to face charges, arriving today. Yadav is accused of luring and befriending a minor from Assam on social media before sexually assaulting the minor victim here in 2022 and posting objectionable photos and videos and also blackmailing the victim on the basis of these posts.

According to CID sources, an FIR was registered on August 6, 2025, vide CID Cyber P.S. Case No. 08/2025, under Sections 294/507 IPC R/W Sec 66D/57A of the IT Act, R/W Sec 4 of the POCSO Act, based on the information that the complainant’s daughter, who is from Assam, met one Hrithik Yadav on Instagram in 2021.

According to the complaint, Hrithik Yadav began messaging her persistently. On March 11, 2022, the accused came to Assam from Madhya Pradesh. On March 12, 2022, the accused sexually assaulted the victim, who was a minor then. He left for Madhya Pradesh on March 16, 2022. Later he started blackmailing her, saying that he had made objectionable videos of her and exploited her further into appearing on video calls, etc., or else he would share them with her friends and parents. He also created fake accounts to share those objectionable photos and videos with her friends and parents.

It was also stated that, in 2024, he came to meet the victim again, but she refused to meet him. Since then, the accused has been creating fake social media accounts to share objectionable videos of the victim and has also circulated the same through WhatsApp and Instagram.

In this regard, the CID team led by investigating officer Dr Arundhati Devi, DSP, CID, went to Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, and arrested the accused, Hrithik Yadav, on Aug 13, 2025. The accused attempted to misrepresent his age by presenting fraudulent documents in order to falsely project himself as a juvenile. However, the CID team visited the school where he studied and collected the age certificate, according to which he is 26 years old.

The CID team then produced the accused before a court at Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, and the court granted transit remand for production of the accused before the Court of Special Judge (POCSO), Kamrup (M). The accused was brought to Guwahati from Madhya Pradesh on Aug 16, 2025, for further action as per law.
