Guwahati Police Nab Bike Thief In Jorabat, Recover Stolen Royal Enfield Within 12 Hours

GUWAHATI: A quick response by the Basistha Police Station team, along with Jorabat OP, led to the arrest of a wanted bike thief during a naka check at Jorabat. The arrested individual, Sanidul Dewan (24), who is a resident of Baragdia area in Chenga, Barpeta, was involved in several thefts across Guwahati.

After his arrest, a swift operation was carried out, and within 12 hours of the complaint, the stolen Royal Enfield Meteor-350 (Supernova Brown, Reg. No: AS01FR1597) was recovered. The theft had been reported by Pankaj Teron, who alleged that his bike was stolen from his residence at around 2:00 AM.

Further questioning of Dewan led the police to another suspect, Mahar Ali (38) from Majarchar area in Barpeta, who was also arrested for his involvement in the theft. The police continue their investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, the Guwahati police conducted multiple raids, leading to the arrest of several criminals involved in multiple offenses across the city. In Paltan Bazar, police seized 25 grams of heroin and arrested Jeherul Islam (23) from Baghbor.

In Panbazar, 24.57 grams of heroin were recovered near Rail Gate No. 3, and Pradeep Chetry (29) from Hojai was arrested. The drugs were reportedly sourced from Hong Kong with help from other arrested suspects.

In Nalapara, Basistha police and STF personnel apprehended two drug peddlers, Akash Swargiary (25) and Robbert Basumatary (25), seizing cannabis and cash from them. These raids are part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug-related crimes in the city.
