GUWAHATI: Journalist Dilwar Hussain Mozumdar's residence located in Guwahati's Pragjyotish Housing Complex has been raided by the Police earlier this morning.

The Pan Bazar police reportedly took the under-fire journalist to his residence in Pragjyotish Housing Complex at around 4 am today.

Several documents were seized from his residence by the cops who took him to the police station. He was later released and returned home, only to be raided again by the police.

Concerns were raised regarding the absence of female police officers during the second raid by Mazumdar’s wife.

Mazumdar assured his full cooperation with the police and reitarated his trust in the judicial system. This incident comes in the wake of his arrest on 25th March after he tried to question Dambaru Saikia, Managing Director of Apex Bank.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma responded to the recent arrest of a Web Portal Journalist in Assam after he tried to cover a story linked to an alleged scam of a cooperative bank.

Speaking on the matter, CM Sarma accused the journalist of being a businessman and working only as a part-timer in a web portal which is owned by a politician.

The Assam CM also questioned his credibility as a mediaperson and countered by asking whether Dilwar Hussain should be considered as a journalist.
