GUWAHATI: Two Class 9 students from Guwahati, who went missing after skipping their annual examinations, have been safely returned to their families. The students, who had not attended their exams on March 7, reportedly informed their friends about their plans to travel to Hyderabad.
The incident took place when the students did not return home from school, and their families started a search. The preliminary investigations found that the children had not shown up for their exams, and their parents lodged independent missing person reports at Noonmati Police Station and the Railway Police Station at Paltan Bazaar.
Following the complaints lodged, the Guwahati Police launched an investigation into the missing students. Their efforts paid off as the students were found in Howrah, where the Kolkata Police managed to trace them after a tip-off provided by their Guwahati counterpart.
A group of Guwahati Police officers went to Howrah to bring back the students, and they were subsequently returned to the city. The two students were reunited with their parents at Noonmati Police Station on March 13, much to the relief of the distressed parents.
This event highlights the need for communication between parents and children, especially about school attendance and the dangers of running away. Authorities still urge families to keep open lines of communication to avoid such incidents in the future.
