GUWAHATI: Pratibandhi Suraksha Santha, Assam (PSSA) has called off its proposed series of agitation following an assurance from the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment today.
The PSSA did announce a serial agitation from January 24 against, as it says, deception to them by the government on their various demands. According to PSSA secretary Nripen Malakar, in today's assurance given to them, the Directorate said that the process for the proposed high-level committee has been underway. The directorate will fix the date of the meeting after getting the nod from the higher authorities.
Malakar said that they would stage a protest in front of the Assam Assembly if the department does not hold the high-level meeting by February 10.
