A gruesome case of cold-blooded murder has sent shockwaves across Panjabari area, where the body of a 75-year-old retired teacher was discovered buried under a pile of stones inside her residence.

Guwahati: A gruesome case of cold-blooded murder has sent shockwaves across Panjabari area, where the body of a 75-year-old retired teacher was discovered buried under a pile of stones inside her residence.

The deceased, Shaeira Sultana, who lived alone in her home on Rangpur Path, had been missing since Monday afternoon after reportedly visiting a bank. Concern grew when locals noticed blood stains near the bathroom, prompting an immediate police investigation.

Upon arriving at the scene, police recovered the body buried within the premises. Eyewitnesses claimed to have seen a man, identified as Qazi Mohammad Abdul Aziz Laskar from Silchar, leaving the house the previous evening. He was allegedly seen dragging an object and locking the gate before fleeing.

Acting promptly, Dispur Police, with assistance from Palasbari Police, apprehended the accused within four hours of the murder. “The accused was arrested along with key evidence,” confirmed DCP Mrinal Deka.

During interrogation, Laskar confessed to the crime. Police recovered a machete and several objectionable items from the scene. Forensic and CID teams have collected samples for further examination. The victim’s body bore multiple visible injury marks, indicating a brutal assault.
