Guwahati: Samagra Shiksha, Assam Spells out Activities for No Tobacco Day

GUWAHATI: The SSA (Samagra Shiksha, Assam) has requested inspectors of schools of all districts, district elementary education officers of all districts, and district mission directors of all districts to ensure that all schools in the state observe World No Tobacco Day on May 31 to promote awareness about the risk related to the consumption of tobacco and its products.

The SSA has also requested them to take necessary steps to ensure that the day is observed meaningfully in all schools from classes I to XII with activities like marching or processions involving students to raise awareness about the ill effects of tobacco use, orientation sessions arranging talks and discussions with health professionals and local community leaders on the harmful effects of tobacco, street plays, and quiz, essay and slogan writing competitions.
