Guwahati: The Anusuchit Jati Yuba Chatra Parishad, Asom (AJYCPA), have launched a fresh wave of agitation if the long-pending demands of the Scheduled Caste (SC) community remain unaddressed by the state government.
The student body accused the government of neglecting crucial issues related to employment, reservation policies, and education. They particularly criticized the lack of budgetary allocation for the SC community in the recently presented state budget.
According to the organization, a meeting was held with Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 5, during which they discussed various concerns, including stipend regularization, backlog post fulfillment, the withdrawal of Mission Bhumiputra, resolving issues faced by the fisher community, ensuring seniority-based promotions, introducing a special welfare package for SCs, and taking action against fake caste certificates. However, Rubul Das, the president of the Parishad, alleged that the Chief Minister had failed to keep his promises.
They warned that if their demands are not met, they will continue their agitation across the state.
